Biography
La Revue inspired by Dreamgirls is a musical stage review of the songs from the Broadway musical Dreamgirls, with music by Henry Krieger and lyrics and book by Tom Eyen. Based upon the show business aspirations and successes of R&B acts such as The Supremes, The Shirelles, James Brown, Jackie Wilson, and others. The drama production musical follows the story of a young female singing trio from Chicago, Illinois called "The Dreams", who become music superstars. Dreamgirls opened on December 20, 1981 at the Imperial Theatre, and was nominated for thirteen Tony Awards, including the Tony Award for Best Musical, and won six.
The musical was adapted into a motion picture by DreamWorks Pictures and Paramount Pictures, which opened in theaters on December 15, 2006 (limited) and December 25, 2006 (world wide).
La Revue captures the story line of the original stage production and the glitz, glamour and arrangements from the film. The popularity of Dreamgirls makes it a good choice to entertain international audiences as they can relate to the familiarity of the songs and story. We have been very lucky to have casted the ideal talents. The review is available for staging however with a live band we require minimum four (4) weeks booking in advance and two (2) weeks minimum with a show of tracks.
